Choosing a sperm donor
There are a number of different sperm banks available. We can work with the sperm bank you have chosen and we can support you about what to consider when choosing your donor.
We suggest choosing licensed and recognized donor banks to provide the best quality sperm.
What to consider
One straw/ampule should be enough for 1 treatment cycle, however, due to the transport costs you may wish to purchase more than 1 to cover for repeat cycles/sibling cycles.
Legal implications and donor anonymity
Sperm donation in Greece is anonymous by law. This means that you/your family may never know/meet the sperm donor and vice versa. This would be allowed for medical reasons only after a court has decided so.
It is important to remember that after completion of the appropriate consent forms, you will be regarded as the legal parents or any child born as a result of the treatment. The donor will not be financially or emotionally liable for the upbringing of any child created using the donor’s sperm.
Can I use donor sperm from elsewhere?
We recommend working with well-known and established sperm banks, such as Cryos International Sperm Bank or European Sperm Bank. You can access their donor bank and order sperm directly with them. We’ll advise you on what is needed, you then order & pay directly with them, they will then ship your sperm to the clinic ready for when your treatment starts.
