We have been using the EmbryoScope+ incubator system since 2018 and it has helped us further increase the success rates of IVF, which means first IVF success for more of our patients.
The EmbryoScope+ incubator system, using timelapse technology, helps our embryologists culture and select the better embryos. It is used daily in our embryology laboratory since 2018, so now the lab has significant experience and data capable of safe conclusions from its use.
EmbryoScope+ gives us the ability to increase IVF success rate for our patients.
The use of time-lapse technology has been associated with significantly higher rates of clinical pregnancy, significantly lower miscarriages and increased birth rates compared to conventional culture. Especially for patients over 40 the increase of a clinical pregnancy percentage is statistically significant (patients with 6 or more eggs on their egg retrieval). This is a very important result because women over 40 are more likely to need an IVF treatment.
The use of time-lapse technology contributes towards three main factors:
According to our embryologist’s analysis, embryo culture with the EmbryoScope+ incubator system is superior to conventional culture and offers the following advantages:
The new EmbryoScope+ incubators have a built-in camera with time-lapse technology and a microscope. They take a photo of each embryo every 10 minutes and a video that shows the culture of each embryo for the days that remain in the incubator is created (3-5 days).
Embryologists then use specialized software to examine the videos of each embryo and decide which embryos should be transferred or frozen.
The new EmbryoScope+ incubators that we have in our embryology lab are a state-of-the-art technology that enables a stable culture environment for embryos.
