10 things I need to know.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Each woman\u2019s fertility is unique as her finger print. Each couple is special and requires a tailor-made treatment plan. Of course, the causes of infertility differ amongst couples, so treatment is not the same for all. This week we will talk about some causes of infertility in general. Let\u2019s see some basic data, some of your questions and learn more about what can cause infertility. We should always have in mind that the fertility expert can give us the answers to all our questions. Today we will talk about polycystic ovaries (PCO).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– I have polycystic ovaries and I am trying for a baby. 10 things I need to know.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. It is important to seek a fertility expert\u2019s help early, because polycystic ovaries are the most common cause of infertility in young women who do not ovulate. PCO might affect my fertility and metabolism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. To maximize my chances of a successful pregnancy, I discuss with my doctor various medical problems such as insulin resistance, weight gain, sparse menstruation, acne and excessive hair growth, which are linked to polycystic ovaries, before I start trying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. From the very first month I stop taking the contraceptive pill, I can start trying for a baby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. I monitor my weight to better regulate my cycle and ovulation. By reducing my body weight, even a small percentage, I increase the success rate of my pregnancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. If my cycle lasts more than 35 days and I do not ovulate I may need treatment to stimulate ovulation. In this way my pregnancy will come faster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. The risk of miscarriage is higher in women with polycystic ovaries, regardless of whether the pregnancy was achieved after treatment or without. I do not forget that my partner should have a sperm analysis, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. In some cases where the initial treatments did not work, IVF is the best option. PCO are probably the most common cause of infertility in young couples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. I may need treatment for my first pregnancy, but the second and third may happen naturally. The first pregnancy has been beneficial for my hormone profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. The ovulation stimulation for me needs special attention. It is important for the fertility expert to design a specialized plan for me. This is because I know that in women with polycystic ovaries, the syndrome of ovarian hyperstimulation is more common. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

10. Women with polycystic ovaries, although we may try a little harder, we have fertility on our side!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
